Ignition characteristics of premixed cool flames on a heated wall

چکیده

This work examined the cool flame ignition and stabilization on heated walls with different surface reactivities. A premixed mixture of dimethyl ether (DME) O2 was impinged a wall temperature linearly ramped to determine temperature. Numerical analyses identify hysteresis phenomenon in extinction processes, which appears be primarily governed by low-temperature reaction kinetics. The formation HCHO during process monitored using planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) technique synchronized instantaneous measurements. data indicated that concentration near abruptly increased at flame. predicted behaviors for nonlinear folded S-curve smoothly stretched were successfully observed experimentally first time ever lean mixtures. Moreover, results show compared limits an inert SiO2 surface, noticeable increases decreases Fe Pt surfaces, respectively. These findings suggest significant chemical effects occur process, based interactions between gas phase reactions.

Flame Flashback and Propagation of Premixed Flames near a Wall

The flashback or propagation of premixed flames along the near-wall low-velocity region at the base of a laminar boundary layer of a reactive mixture has been studied numerically. The analysis, carried out using the constant density approximation for an Arrhenius overall reaction, accounts for the effects of the Lewis number of the fuel. The flow field, as seen by an observer moving with the fr...

Characteristics of a Subgrid Model for Turbulent Premixed Flames*

A modified version of the linear eddy model (LEM) for subgrid combustion is developed and used for studying the properties of turbulent premixed flames in the core region of Couette flow. The handling of the burning (diffusion/reaction) and specie transport, in this new approach, is fully deterministic. The model is, therefore, found to predict the correct laminar flame speed in the limit of ze...

Effect of Injection Characteristics on Emissions and Combustion of a Gasoline Fuelled Partially-premixed Compression Ignition Engine

Conventional compression ignition (CI) engines are known for their high thermal efficiency compared to spark ignited (SI) engines. Gasoline because of its higher ignition delay has much lower soot emission in comparison with diesel fuel. Using double injection strategy reduces the maximum heat release rate that leads to NOx emission reduction. In this paper, a numerical study of a gasoline fuel...

Simulation of premixed turbulent flames

1. Introduction Premixed turbulent flames are of increasing practical importance and remain a significant research challenge in the combustion community. These flames have the potential to operate cleanly and efficiently over a broad range of fuels, and therefore to represent a key element in the implementation of low-emissions burners for a variety of industrial applications. However, it is di...

Numerical Investigation of Forced Ignition in Laminar Counterflow Non- Premixed Methane-air Flames

Simulations of forced ignition of non-premixed laminar counterflow flames are used to study the effect of strain rate on ignition success. A one dimensional calculation is performed, using detailed methane chemical kinetics and treating the spark as an instantaneous heat release in an inert mixing layer. Ignition success depends on the mixture composition at the spark location, resulting in lea...
